MasseyMedia had been handling IT for the City of Huntington for years, so we knew the organization well before the website conversation ever started. When the city’s previous web vendor stopped keeping up with updates and maintenance, city staff were left with a site that was falling further behind with no one reliably managing it. The trust was already there — it was time to put the website in hands that would actually take care of it.
The old site had accumulated problems over time. The design was dated and didn’t project the professional image a city government deserves. It was hard to navigate, broken on mobile, and residents couldn’t easily find what they needed — whether that was department contact info, city news, or basic services. For residents trying to do business with their city online, it was a dead end.
Search visibility was another gap. Huntington residents searching for city services or contact information weren’t reliably finding the site. The city needed a web presence that worked for the people it serves — clean, current, and easy to maintain so it would stay that way.
